Institutional Effectiveness at NWACC
The mission of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is to optimize institutional effectiveness through facilitating an evidence based, organizational culture of continuous improvement (CI) supported by effective processes, valid measures, and appropriate assessment.
In 2006, NWACC was accepted as a participant in the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP), by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). In October of 2012 NWACC received a letter of reaffirmation of accreditation from HLC for a duration of seven years. In 2014 the HLC transitioned to an eight year accreditation cycle at which time NWACC was started on a new accreditation timeline, the Eight-Year Cycle Transition Map. The HLC is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits degree-granting, post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region.

AQIP provides NWACC with a structure to increasingly transform into an institution focusing on continuous improvement. Action Projects (institutional quality initiatives), the Systems Portfolio (self-study), and Systems Appraisal (feedback) assist in NWACC's improvement.
