MEET YOUR STUDENT AMBASSADOR AND ACTIVITIES BOARD
Stephanie Monter - President
Hola, My name is Stephanie Monter. I was born in Anaheim, California but my family comes from Guatemala and Mexico. I graduated from Springdale High School in 2013 and this will be my second year in college. I am majoring in the medical field to become a Registered Nurse because helping others is what I love to do the most. My parents have always taught me to be humble and help others because helping a person in their weakest moment is something amazing and life changing to me. Knowing Jesus Christ as my savior at an early age made me take the right path in life and I thank my mom for that. This is my second semester as a student ambassador and I am really happy to be working with an awesome group of people. As a group we want to make NWACC a fun and healthy environment where students and professors both can have an awesome year. Feel free to stop at our events, we always have free food. If you have any questions about SAAB or me feel free to ask. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!
Dennis "DJ" Cameron - Vice President
Hello there! My name is D.J. Cameron and this will be my third year & last semester at NWACC. I am actively pursuing a degree in U.S. History and teaching. I strongly believe that in order to change our future we must know our past and to learn from our mistakes. Something about me? Well besides my love of long walks on the beach and enjoying a good book, I love the outdoors and teaching music! I have the honor of serving as the Vice President for the Student Ambassadors and proud to call myself a SAABie for life!
Alejandro Montoya Beltran - Secretary/SGA Liaison
My SAAB nickname is Baloo and I think it’s pretty cool. I love to hang out with my friends and cousins. Going out to the movies is something I like to do because it distracts me from the real world. My dream is to an Athletic Trainer for a professional team. After graduating from NWACC, I will be attending OCA or the U of A. I love to stay active and be involved as much as I can be. One more thing, I think meeting new people from different ethnicities is pretty awesome. Favorite quote: “The worst thing I can be is the same as everybody else.” By Arnold Scwarzenegger.
Kimberly Moua - Career Closet Manager
Nyob Zoo! My name is Kimberly Moua. I am the second youngest child out of six kids. Growing up in California, my parents worked really hard raising 5 kids and always encouraged us to go to college so that we can find a stable job. When we moved to Arkansas in 2003, life was really different for us kids because my oldest sister got married and we weren’t use to the country life yet. In 2005, my mom got pregnant and had my youngest brother now. Growing up in Arkansas, I always knew I would go to NWACC but never thought to be one of the Student Ambassadors.
Joshan 'Shan' Cortez - Historian
Hello, I may be the guy who showed you where to find your first class when you were lost, or the person who gave you a tour around campus for the very first time, or maybe that random dude who held the doors open for you. Regardless of how we met, I hope that I have contributed to your success or even made the burden a little bit lighter. My name is Joshan Cortez; some of my friends call me Shan. I’m an international student from the Philippines and currently going for my Associate’s degree in Information Systems with the hopes of finishing it with a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas. About two years ago; long before I knew about SAAB, I used to be that person who would sit in the very back seat and hope to go unnoticed. Having English as my second language, I would say that it wasn’t easy, it made it rather difficult for me to express myself and communicate with others. I’ve been trying to survive college life by myself, until I met the Student Ambassadors (SAAB). I’ve been curious on what they do around campus, so when I found out that they had an opening I immediately took the chance to apply. With God’s help along with the support of my family and friends, I was able to get a seat in the prestigious Student Ambassador and Activities Board. After that I was never the same again. I found new friends, I greatly improved my communication & interpersonal skills, and of course, my English was a whole lot better than when I first came here. I would say that SAAB is one of the best things that ever happened to my life.If you’re also like me, someone who’s struggling to survive college life by yourself, I encourage you to get involve with student activities, the different school clubs and organizations. Maybe someday, I hope to see you as one of the Student Ambassadors helping to serve our community while having lots of fun.
