Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety is located in the Center for Health Professions 1033C, with satellite offices throughout campus.
Students, faculty or staff encountering emergencies or violations of College regulations or local, State or federal law should report these incidents to one of the following:
Department of Public Safety – (479) 619-4229
Community members, students, faculty, staff, and guests should report all crimes and public safety related incidents to NWACC's DPS in a timely manner. Crimes should be reported to the DPS to ensure inclusion in the annual crime statistics and to aid in providing timely warning notices to the community when appropriate. It is the responsibility of DPS to investigate and follow up on all reports of criminal activity on campus. In some cases DPS officers are assisted in their investigations by other area law enforcement agencies. If assistance is required from other police agencies or fire departments, DPS will contact the appropriate unit.
One of the primary objectives of the College is to provide a safe and healthy environment that enhances the learning experience and complements the College's educational mission. As an integral part of the Northwest Arkansas community, NWACC shares many of the same crime and security challenges as the counties and cities in our area.
While the College has been fortunate in not experiencing excessive criminal activity, students, faculty and staff should exercise reasonable care to avoid becoming a victim of crime. There is always the possibility of a criminal act against a member of the NWACC community despite the best efforts of the administrative and public safety staff. The safest environment can only be achieved through the cooperative efforts of staff, faculty, and students working together.
Law Enforcement Authority and Responsibility
The College Police Department is staffed with both commissioned Police Officers and with noncommissioned Security Officers.
