Did you attend a community college?

Yes. I attended NorthWest Arkansas Community College before continuing my education.

What do you do at NWACC?

As Director of Student Life I wear several hats. I advise NWACC's student leadership group, the Student Ambassador and Government Association (SAGA). I work with SAGA to help them bring great events to NWACC students and to help them create initiatives that are driven by NWACC students. I also manage student leadership programs and oversee all of the student clubs on campus. Student clubs are a great way for students to get involved, make friends and do some great projects and community service opportunities - all things that help students succeed in college and in life. I advise NWACC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. This group of students work on in depth research projects that benefit the college and community. The Office of Student Life also oversees the Student Information Center,  the student game room and student recreation activities. My office manages the NWACC Food Pantry - which is available for all NWACC students.

We have great new First-Generation Student Program to help First-Generation college students navigate and succeed in college. I am present throughout your college career and because I also chair the graduation committee I will be there when you graduate.

Why NWACC?

I have worked at NWACC for 14 years. During this time I have worked in 3 different areas and enjoyed all of them. Everyone at NWACC is truly student focused. I have been in Student Services for six of those 14 years and absolutely love it. Student Services is where I am able to pursue my passion for student success. This is where I am able to help students grow and succeed outside of the classroom. We have a motto in Student Services - Meet students where they are - everyone in Student Services does this. They all truly have a passion for student success and this is exactly where I want to be.

How do you like to spend your free time outside of NWACC?

I love to ride my motorcycle and often take cross country trips on it. I enjoy hiking, camping, bicycling, and spending time with my 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 2 dogs. I also serve on the board for Big Paws of the Ozarks dog rescue and spend lots of time fostering and connecting rescued dogs to their forever families.

What’s your advice for NWACC students?

Do it! NWACC is the smart and affordable choice. The classes are small so you get more focused attention from your professors. The tuition is less than university so you won't break your bank. There are tons of free resources for you and the staff and faculty are truly invested in your success. Even though we are a community college there are lots of opportunities to get involved with student leadership and clubs. We truly are a community and our students make us that community. We are here for you!
