English Proficiency
All new F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars are expected to understand English fluently upon arrival at NWACC as the college does not have an intensive English program. To ensure English proficiency, please review the below requirements.

Computer Based: 173
Internet Based: 61
Essentials: 7
IELTS Score:
Overall Score 6.0
Duolingo English Test:
Overall Score 90
(Must submit Duolingo Certificate)
PTE Score (Pearson Test of English):
Overall score of 50
Exemptions
- Successfully transfer 12 college credits to NWACC
- And have COMP I with “C” or better grade
- Graduated high school or college from an English education system
- Diploma in English and evidence of teaching format
- Waiver from a certified United States English language program
- ESL transcript required
If your citizenship and/or General Education Diploma originates from one of these countries then you may request a waiver on your English verification.
